Turku Airshow 2023, i.e. the main airshow of the year, will be held at Turku Airport on 17–18 June. The family-friendly event offers a variety of things to see and experience.
In addition to various aircraft, the exhibition will also feature zero-emission equipment from Finavia airports, such as the rescue services’ “panther”. See what the event has to offer!
Alpha Electro electric aircraft
The next-generation two-seat electric aircraft Pipistrel Alpha Electro will be shown at Turku Airshow.
The total weight of the electric aircraft is 370 kg, and the aircraft is powered entirely by electricity. The cruising speed of the aircraft is 157 kilometres per hour. The electric aircraft can fly for one and a half hours at a time within a radius of about 120 kilometres.
Finavia’s “panther”, i.e. fire engine
The Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 is an Austrian airport rescue and firefighting vehicle.
When the fire engine’s tanks are full, the giant vehicle weighs a total of 37 tonnes. Despite its size, the fire engine accelerates to 80 km/h in 27 seconds. The maximum speed of the vehicle is 115 km/h.
The water tank of the fire engine can hold 13,000 litres of water and the foam liquid tank can hold 1,500 litres.
The remote-controlled roof cannon sprays water or foam at 9,000 litres per minute. The spray can reach up to 100 metres. Finavia’s “panthers” run on renewable fuel.
Finavia’s Valtra S 394 tractor
Finavia’s Valtra S 394 tractors are used at airports around Finland for various tasks. The tractors run on renewable fuel.
In winter, the tractor is used to clear the runway of snow, using a 5-metre-wide U-plough in front and a brush or snow blower in the rear.
When there is no need to clear snow, the tractors can be used to mow lawns or do earthmoving.
With their accessories, the tractors weigh 15,000 kg.
In addition, Turku Airshow will exhibit the capabilities of modern jet fighters and other aircraft. The airshow at Turku Airport is organised by Turku Flight Club. See the airshow’s programme: Turku Airshow 2023
