Finnair will introduce a summer route and fly to Chicago three times a week between 13 June and 17 October 2015. The flights will depart from Helsinki Airport on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Located on the southern shore of Lake Michigan, Chicago is the largest city in the Midwestern United States. It is an important centre for business, recreation and culture. The Chicago metropolitan area, or Chicagoland, has a total population of more than 9 million people, including 2.7 million people who live in the city.

Chicago is famous for its skyscrapers, sports teams, shopping opportunities and lively art and cultural scene.

Direct flights to Chicago are part of a cooperation project between Finnair, British Airways, Iberia, American Airlines and US Airways. This cooperation connects Helsinki with dozens of cities in North America, from Vancouver to Charlotte, with just one stopover.

The route between Helsinki and Chicago was previously operated by American Airlines. Chicago is one of its hubs, and Finnair customers have codeshare access from there to several destinations in the United States, such as San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The Chicago route replaces the Hanoi route that Finnair operated during the two previous summers as part of its long-distance offering. Finnair’s summer destinations for 2015 also include Athens, Dublin, Malta and Split, among others.
