We have compiled a list of awards for 2022.
1. SkyTrax: Best Airport in Northern Europe
Passengers selected Helsinki Airport as the best airport in Northern Europe in SkyTrax’s international service survey. The award was presented to Finavia at the Passenger Terminal event in Paris in June 2022. The award was given for a good customer experience, for which Finavia employees work whole-heartedly. In particular, Finavia employees responsible for passenger services work in the terminal and meet passengers on a daily basis.
2. TEKLA BIM Global Awards: the World's Best Building Information Modelling
Finavia and its alliance partners were granted the prestigious international award for the best building information modelling in the world. The award was granted to the building information modelling of the terminal extension at Helsinki Airport, which allowed Finavia and alliance partners to plan even the smallest details of the terminal. The planning of the modelling involved several Finavia employees from the Helsinki Airport development team.
3. Airport of the Year 2021: Kittilä
Kittilä Airport was awarded the Airport of the Year award. Finavia's annual award was granted to Kittilä, as customer satisfaction at the recently renovated airport has remained at a high level even during the busiest tourist seasons. Finavia employees working at Kittilä Airport received praise for their long-term work in achieving customer satisfaction and for their excellent team spirit and preparation for busy travel seasons.
4. Condé Nast Traveler, Reader's Choice Awards: Top 10 Airports in the World
Readers of the international travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler voted for Helsinki Airport to be among the 10 best airports in the world. In particular, readers praised the visibility of Finnish culture and Finnish brands in the terminal. Finavia's commercial business team develops Helsinki Airport's service portfolio, and Finnish expertise and craftsmanship are an important part of the airport's story.
5. Grand One Honourable Mention and Most Shared Outdoor Advertisement of the Year
Finavia's MyHelsinkiAirport campaign was granted an honourable mention in the Grand One competition’s Best Social Media Campaign category. During the insightful campaign, Helsinki Airport became the first airport in the world to be named by its passengers. Passengers renamed the airport more than 16,000 times. The implementation also won the award for most shared outdoor advertisement of the year. The successful campaign involved Finavia's marketing team, together with its partner offices.
6. Puuinfo: 2022 Wood Award
Helsinki Airport's beautiful wooden ceiling was awarded the year’s Wood Award. The ceiling, made of Finnish spruce, creates a peaceful atmosphere for the bustling airport. The award was given particularly for the successful cooperation in a large-scale project. The completion of the new Helsinki Airport terminal has been a significant achievement for Finavia and its partners, and the teams responsible for the development of Helsinki Airport and the terminal processes have worked particularly on the design of the wooden ceiling and the new departures and arrivals hall.
7. Prix Versailles 2022: Award for architecture and design
The new terminal at Helsinki Airport, built by Finavia, was granted an award in the internationally prestigious Prix Versailles 2022 architecture and design competition in Paris. This year, the panel of judges emphasised innovation, creativity, reflections of local heritage and ecological efficiency. The new terminal received a special award for interior design. Several Finavia employees and partners responsible for airport development worked on the planning.
